The vacancy

The Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG) invites applications from persons interested in taking up an important role in supporting the further development of quality assurance for JAG approved endoscopy training centres and courses. The JAG wishes to appoint a training centre and course quality assurance lead.

The JAG is hosted by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP). The RCP is a patient-centred and clinically led organisation whose core mission is to improve patient care and reduce illness. Our vision is for everyone to have the best possible health and healthcare.

The Care Quality Improvement Department supports the RCP’s strategic aim to improve care for patients. It utilises a variety of methods and approaches to drive improvements in activities, influences the quality of clinical practice via ambitious work programmes that are delivered via constituent teams. JAG aims to promote similar change and improvement in all endoscopy services, whilst also providing assurance to patients, managers, referrers, and commissioners about the service provided.

The JAG Federation of training centres operational lead will be responsible for quality assurance of JAG training centres, assessment of annual reviews and supporting the quality assurance of courses.

Application and appointments process

Ideally the successful candidate will take up the role as soon as possible. The appointment will be for 1 year with a possible further agreement for one year.

The time commitment is on average one day per month and renumeration for this post is in line with the RCP’s clinical release supplement policy.  There will therefore be a reimbursement of a maximum of £3,500 per year to the successful candidate’s employer. The RCP will not make any additional reimbursements as part of the agreement related to this role. Appointees can also claim reimbursement of all eligible expenses incurred in carrying out their roles, in line with RCP Accreditation Unit’s policy.

Candidates for this role should be aware that it is the duty of a candidate to obtain advance agreement from his/her employing authority that they will be given adequate time to perform the duties of this role.
